I was on the volleyball and track teams in elementary and high school. Our teams went to states and won championships…..but all of the athleticism did not prepare me for all of the running, bending, picking up, putting down, and chaos of 2 toddlers!

I. Am. A. Foodie! I am one of those who doesn’t just eat, but has food experiences. And yes, if it is good enough, much to my family’s embarrassment, I will do my food dance!! My husband does not understand it, but supports me!

I lived in Florida for over 20 years. Yes, Florida man is very real, alligators are very common, and you sweat during Christmas. Our absolute FAVORITE place to vacation in Florida is St. Augustine!! There is so much to do there! Before kids, my husband and I would stay in a Bed & Breakfast in the center of downtown and just become immersed in the city life. Walking everywhere, finding all the hidden gems to take photos, discovering the best places to eat and ending the day at our favorite winery are always on our checklist.

Teaching was the best decision….and so was walking away from it. Working with kids, watching their expression when something clicks, the random sayings, the energy and the chaos, gives me life! Leaving education was difficult, however, deciding to stay home to raise our kiddos was the best decision. I wanted to continue to serve in the education world in different ways. I found my love of tutoring, which I do internationally and domestically. And this new path has led me to finally reach my dream of publishing my works.

I get asked this question a lot- “When did you start to write?” That is a wonderful question. I always had a BIG imagination. When I was in elementary school, I would get absolutely lost in a book. I would turn into Nancy Drew. My room was located in a jungle. I could feel the hot sand by the pyramids burning my fingertips. I cried when a character got hurt or passed. I got literal goose bumps at a sudden shift or twist in a story. I imagined in elementary school, writing such a story that did the same to someone out there in the world. Many years have passed since elementary school, but the love of using my imagination to inspire has never left. I want kids to see all the many different forms of storytelling out there and to be inspired by at least one. So, I will keep my pen to the paper, hoping one day, my books will be a match that lights up someone’s world.
